Uzamere holds meeting with Levant Construction Company, agreement reached for commencement of remedial works at Ovia River Bridge

Following a meeting held today at the instance of the Edo State Commissioner of Roads and Bridges, Hon Ethan Uzamere, the officials of Levant Construction Company have aggreed to move to site to begin palliative works on the bad spot at the Ovia River Bridge.

According to a statement by Uzamere, "I have held a meeting with the officials of Levant Construction Company and they have aggreed to move to site to begin work. Evacuation of flood water from the road has started and tomorrow the palliative work is expected to commence. Edo State Government under the able leadership of Governor Godwin Obaseki will continue to prioritize the safety of all Edo people and those who transit through Edo State."

"Sadly, today two lives have been lost in the accident while another two are undergoing treatment at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital. Edo State government is sponsoring the hospital bills of the victims. We earnestly pray for their speedy recovery. Meanwhile, efforts by divers are still ongoing to recover a Sienna vehicle that is still submerged in the river."
