Edo State moves resumption of schools for third term to 25th April

Edo State has moved resumption of schools in the state for the third term of 2022/2023 academic session to 25th April 2023.

The change in schools resumption date is as a result the Muslim Eid el-Fitr and the public holiday declared by the Federal Government on Friday, 21st and Monday, 24th April to mark the celebration.

In a public announcement issued on Thursday, the Edo State Ministry of Education informed school owners, school administrators, parents, guardians and the general public that the new resumption date supersedes the one stated in the 2022/2023 harmonised school calendar.

The Ministry, in the public announcement signed by Dr. Oni Ekhosuehi, Permanent Secretary, for Honourable Commissioner for Education, noted that teaching and learning in the schools would commence immediately from the first day of resumption and, therefore, asked parents and guardians to release their wards on the stipulated date to resume school.

“Furthermore, parents/guardians should note that the School O’clock team will resume on the same date. Any parent/guardian whose ward (pupil/student} is found loitering, hawking or engaged in child labour during school hours will be arrested and prosecuted,” the Ministry said.

“To this end, school heads should ensure that classrooms and school environments are clean, safe and ready for commencement of academic activities,” it said.
