... as Invitation Golf Tournament Ends in Style
It was funfair at the Benin Club Golf Course, Benin City, Edo State on Saturday as Engr Kingsley Ehi Okunbor Invitation Golf Tournament came to an exciting end with outpouring of eulogies on the celebrants at the party that lasted till early morning of 1am Sunday morning.
The presentation ceremony of the week-long golf tournament attracted both professional and amateur golfers who were honored with awards, gifts and prices.
The celebration, however amazed the celebrant, Engr Kingsley Ehi Okunbor who witnessed large turnout of guests at the party arena put together by Mr Ignatius Aigbokhaode and other organising committee members.
Among the guests at the prize presentation ceremony were Edo State Deputy Governor, Rt Hon Comrade Philip Shaibu and his Wife, Comrade (Mrs) Maryann Philip-Shaibu.
At the presentation ceremony, Shaibu, who against all odds, exhibited his golfing skill and emerged champion in the special guests category, while his wife who also proved her prowess, emerged the winner of ladies best gross award.
In his remarks, the Deputy Governor of Edo State, Rt Hon Comrade Philip Shaibu discribed Engr. Kingsley Ehi Okunbor as a man with a heart of gold, noted that, Kingsley is not conceited in his world outlook. To him, such barriers as political disparity, social segregation and economic subjugation are anathema. He moves about without an air of superiority; he is easygoing and always ready to give advisory role.
"His garb of simplicity is partly a product of his humble and disciplined upbringing."
"In taking up the gauntlet of independence from the outset of his business ventures, the combination of discipline, hard work, purpose and providence has contributed to his success."
"Indeed, Kingsley's life is a study in resilience. He has remained steadfast all through the years in the face of daunting challenges occasioned by unpredictable loss of his brother, Hosa Okunbo and yet kept his fate alive."
"Kingsley does not announce his acts of benevolence and philanthropy to humanity, those who have benefitted from his generosity would attest to his humility in giving and sharing," Shaibu said.
Mr. Ignatius Aigbokhaode who joined other to organized the warm reception for the celebrant, said, Kingsley love for golf made him become so rapidly a distinctive personality that earned him two term Captain of BCGS.
Others described him as an inspiration, role model and a jolly fellow who has spread love and impacted lives.
