Edo Ministry of Mining, Oil and Gas solid mineral sector stakeholder's confab enters second day

Day 2 featuring a technical session is currently ongoing at the Edo Mining, Oil and Gas Ministry's solid mineral sector stakeholder's forum. The forum is the brainchild of the Ministry's Commissioner, Hon. Ethan Uzamere.

Stakeholders including Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission, Federal Ministry of Mining and Steel, NSCDC, Mining Cadastral Office, DSS, Nigerian Police, Women in Mining, Miners Association of Nigeria, amongst others are all present.

Recall that in his welcome address, the Commissioner said the Ministry was working to develop a State mining policy in order for Mining activities to translate to tangible benefits for Edo people, coordinate activities in the Mining sector and set agenda for more productivity in the sector.

This, he said, is an effort to position Edo State as a major player in the solid mineral sector and diversify the state's economy in line with the vision of His Excellency, Mr Godwin Obaseki, the Executive Governor of Edo State.

The session will come to a close today and initial reports indicate the forum has helped to boost the confidence of investors to invest in the mining sector  in the State, which in turn will shore up the internally generated revenue (IGR) of the State.
