Edo Environment Commissioner sacks waste manager

Honourable Commissioner for Environment and Sustainability, Engr. Jonathan Lawani has ordered the removal of Imose as the Waste Manager in charge of Oregbeni Market, Ikpoba –Okha Local Government Area, Benin City.

 Engr. Lawani stated this in his Office following series of complaints from Residents and Traders in the Market.
 The Commissioner who frowned at the uncleaned state of the Market said he had ealier issued a warning to the Waste Manager this year when he made a tour of the Market.

 He explained that there had been series of complains from Traders and Residents in the Market and its environs of the Waste Manager’s lackadaisical attitude towards the evacuation of Waste in the Market even after collecting is fees.

Engr. Lawani said the Ministry in collaboration with Head of Local Government Administration, HOLGA and the Head of Environmental Health Department of the Local Government had made several efforts to ensure the Market is clean always.

He said he will not spare anyone who is thwarting the effort of Governor Godwin Obaseki’s bid in ensuring the State is the cleanest of all adding that the sack of the Waste Manager will serve as a deterrent to those who are not up and doing in their duties.

 Engr. Lawani However appealed to residents in the state to imbibe the culture of maintaining a Clean Environment by engaging the services of Waste Managers in the State for proper evacuation and dumping of Waste in authorised Places.
