Shaibu intercepts, sends one-way drivers to psychiatric hospital

The Edo State Deputy Governor, Rt Hon Comrade Philip Shaibu Thursday evening intercepted over 20 ‘one way’ commercial vehicle drivers along Ramat Park – a reckless driving that could cause unwarranted road accidents.

The Ramat-Dawson (Ikpoba slope) road is usually congested with traffic jams caused by impatient and reckless drivers, especially during the rush hour period of the day.

Returning from a novelty football match engagement at the Western Boys High School, Shaibu intercepted the vehicles that had taken the one way to bypass the traffic jam at about 6:13 pm.

Disappointed over the attitude of the traffic law defaulters, the Deputy Governor seized the driver’s licences and instructed his security aides to take the drivers to the state’s psychiatric hospital on Friday for proper check-ups.

According to him, ” no normal person will drive one-way facing oncoming vehicles with the attendant risk”

The Deputy Governor stayed behind for over one hour, directing traffic to clear the vehicular logjam. Commuters showered praises, thanking him for his humility and arrests of the unruly drivers who chose to cause pain for other road users.

Comrade Shaibu is a Special Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC. He clearly exhibited the training on traffic control received from the FRSC.
