Eid-el-Kabir: Nigeria passing through difficult times, needs prayers - Shaibu

Edo State Acting Governor, Rt. Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu has felicitated with the Muslim faithful on the occasion of this year's Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

In his Sallah message to Edo people, particularly the Muslims, he noted that "Nigeria was passing through difficult times that require the prayers and sacrifices of both the leaders and the people for our nation to overcome her present challenges".

He added " the level of insecurity in Nigeria today, has assumed a worrisome dimension that we all need to be there for each other. As a people bound by one destiny, the virtues of love, unity, and peaceful co-existence as commanded by Allah must be our watchword".

Shaibu affirmed that "irrespective of ethnic or religious divide, our leaders and indeed patriotic citizens, must refrain from making inflammatory statements or exhibit tendencies capable of driving a wedge amongst our diverse people".

"Permit me to use this sacred occasion of Eid-el-Kabir to enjoin you to reflect on the mood of Nigeria, our dear nation so that together, we can salvage her from predators who do not mean well for our collective aspirations, especially as we prepare for the 2023 general elections."

According to the Acting Governor, "as we celebrate, let us remember the poor in our midst and the less-privileged and give them a sense of belonging in the spirit of brotherliness".

He posited that for Nigeria to be on a pedestal of great and civilized nations of the world, "the 2023 general elections provide an ample opportunity for us to get it right, shun money politics, and elect God-fearing and patriotic leaders at all levels of governance".

He congratulated all Nigerians, while hoping for a peaceful celebration.
