Edo to sustain efforts to discourage illegal migration as IOM offers support for returnees rehabilitation


The Permanent Secretary of Edo State Ministry of Arts, Culture, Tourism and Diaspora Affairs, Iryn Omorogiuwa Esq says the State Government will continue to discourage the youths from illegal migration to Europe that is capable of bringing down their image.

Barrister Omorogiuwa stated this in Benin City when she had an interactive engagement with the officials from the mental health and psychosocial support of International Organization for Migration (IOM), Lagos, led by the director Miss Narulita Ayu in her office.

The Permanent Secretary who informed the visitors of the Ministry’s upcoming lined up events such as Edo Festivals, solicited for the organization’s support by a way of sponsoring the Ministry’s activities.

Earlier, the Director mental health and psychosocial support of international organization for migration Miss Nalita Ayu, pledged the organization’s support of the activities of the Ministry.

According to Miss Narulita, apart from supporting the Ministry in the upcoming events, the organization has a lot of things to do to rehabilitate returnees to put a stop to people stigmatizing them.
