Edo, NEPC deepen support for made-in-Edo products, services

The Edo state government has announced its readiness to support any organization that stands to promote the export of made-in-Edo products and trading activities in the state.

The state commissioner for Industry, Trade, and Cooperatives, Hon. Afishetu Braimoh, announced this in Benin City at a one-day sensitization of stakeholders and other related agencies facilitating the export event organized by the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) at Edo Production Centre in Benin City.

Hon. Braimoh, who was represented by the Director of Trade Promotion and Marketing department, Mrs. Evelyn Nekpen Imode, said the government would always encourage MSMEs and cooperative societies that would place the State on the world map through export.

Hon. Braimoh commended the organizers of the event while urging for continuity of such an initiative.

In his welcome address, the trade promotion advisor of the Nigerian Export Promotion Council, Dr. Emmanuel Etim, in a statement, said, "The NEPC is the federal government of Nigeria's apex institution for promoting the development and diversification of export trade."

"This programme is geared towards achieving massive sensitization campaigns and capacity building of exporters in a bid to diversify the productive base of the Nigerian economy away from oil and foster a market-oriented, private sector-driven economy," he added.
