Acting Governor of Edo State, Rt.Hon.Comrade Philip Shaibu, has restated the commitment of the Obaseki administration towards providing an enabling environment for quality education to thrive in order to promote academic excellence.
The Acting Governor reaffirmed government's resolve when he spoke at the 17th convocation of Benson Idahosa University. It was at its legacy permanent site in Okha, Benin City.
Shaibu stated:"as a government, we will continue to do our best to prioritize education and make the environment suitable for learning".
He added:"Nigeria is bleeding profusely, but you must not forget that the kingdom of God
suffereth violence and only the violent ones taketh it by force".
"You must go out there and stand against the challenges; elect credible leaders that will defend your right as citizens and provide you with the needed dividends of democracy, irrespective of their political parties and affiliations".
"Despite what we are going through as a nation, we shall overcome.Nigeria we surely be great again", Shaibu noted.
The Acting Governor congratulated the wife of popular pentecostal cleric and General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Dr.(Mrs.)Foluke Adenike Adeboye,who was conferred with a Honourary Doctorate Degree in Education.
He also extended his congratulations to other graduands of the university, while affirming that "it is a privilege to be here as the Mummy GO(General Overseer) of the RCCG is honoured with a Doctorate Degree".
" She has indeed, unrelentingly contributed to human capacity building. Mummy, congratulations and happy birthday at 74".
"Dear graduands, you have been found worthy in character and learning; you have been moulded to be ambassadors of Benson Idahosa University. Your combined academics and life experiences will shape your tomorrow. Your must keep the fire burning and never go dim.This is not just a university, but a citadel of godly character and learning", Shaibu noted.
The graduation ceremony attracted dignitaries from all walks of life, including christian ministers and academics, among whom was the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, fondly called Daddy GO.
