Edo First Lady, Betsy Obaseki, GBVMC produces movie to sensitize against gender based violence

A boost has been given to the Edo State government's initiatives to reduce gender-based violence steadily and encourage behavioral changes in the state.

The State's First Lady, Mrs. Betsy Obaseki, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Kada Film Entertainment to build on this accomplishment.

The distribution of a movie called "We Shall Not Be Silent," produced by the Edo State Gender Based Violence Management Committee, is part of the collaboration agreement.

During the second quarterly meeting of the 2022 MoU Committee in Benin City, the state capital, Mrs. Obaseki, Chairperson of the Edo State Gender Based Violence Management Committee, signed on behalf of the State government.

She stated that the choice to work with local entertainment company Kada Cinemas will help to promote the film effectively in Edo State and throughout Nigeria.

The First Lady urged everyone involved to do their part to stop gender-based violence in the State.

According to the First Lady, the movie's earnings will go toward supporting initiatives against gender-based violence in the State.

The initiative was chosen, according to Mr. Trevor Pillay, the managing director of Kada Film Entertainment, due to the film's high caliber.

She stated that “At first glance of the movie I was very impressed and I saw huge potentials as to how this could be used not just for viewing pleasure in cinemas, but also for sensitisation nationwide. So we have a lot of marketing plans in place and we want to get this out to be screened."
