Deputy Governor of Edo State His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu has expressed sadness over the demise of Nigeria's Musical Words Smith, high life king, and social crusader Chief Joseph Osayomore.
“The late Osayomore played a significant role in the unity and search for peace in Nigeria through his gallant outings in the military era. He was a great Musician and committed patriot.”
“With the passing of Osayomore, Nigeria has certainly lost one of its illustrious sons in the high life industry.”
In his condolence message to the Family, Comrade Philip Shaibu described the late Musical Icon as a man of buoyant spirit, a freedom fighter who constantly crusade against social and political injustice. He has no doubts, greatly impacted governance in Nigeria through music. He is courageous in addressing issues through music.
While praying for the family to take solace in the fact that the late Icon impacted the society, he acknowledge that Osayomore brought honour and glory to the old Bendel and Edo State through his artistic demonstration as a Worthy ambassador of the Benin Kingdom, Edo State and the Nation. His magnetic personality will be missed by well-meaning Nigerians.

The Deputy Governor prayed that the good Lord gives Chief Joseph Osayomore's immediate family, close associates, the musical community, as well as friends and well wishes, the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
