Edo APC of crisis: Member drags party to court, asks court to declare primaries null and void

There is currently uncertainty in Orhionmwon South Constituency As Hon. Augustine O. Osawaru has asked the court to declare null and void the purported APC primary election conducted outside the constituency of his Local Government for failure of the Party(APC) to comply with the provision of the law and ask for a fresh election.

Mr. Augustine O. Osawaru asked the Federal High Court Benin Division to Declare The purported Primary Election conducted by All Progressives Congress ( APC) into Orhiomwon South Constituency On the 27th day of May, 2022 in the APC State Secretariat null and void for failure to comply with the clear provision of Section 84(5)C (i) of the Electoral Act 2022 as Amended in a suit Number FHC/B/ CS/59/22 which was served on the APC and INEC. He is also asking the Court to restrain APC from submitting the names of Hon. Etin- Osa Ogbeiwi to INEC and Restraining INEC from accepting his name pending the hearing of the suit.

The INEC official confirmed to our correspondent this evening that their office have received the said processes and as law abiding Institution who is independent will comply with any directive made by the court as they dont have any special interest in any of the cases.

Our correspondent also got confirmation that APC was also served with the Court processes waiting for any further directive before they can take any decisions on the matter.

One of the Counsel to the Plaintiff said the parties haven been served must maintain status Quo pending the hearing and determination of the matter.

This is coming after an aspirant in the party, Clement Edegbe Eranomigho took to social media to lament discrimination by the party Executives haven spent his hard earned monies for the party primaries. Clement also demanded refund of all the money he spent on the party leadership.
