Children's Day: Eghe Ogbemudia describes children as special gifts from God deserving of protection, education

As children all over the world today mark Children's Day, the former Chairman of Egor Local Government Council, Hon. Eghe Ogbemudia, has described children as special gifts from God worthy of not just celebration but also education and protection.

The former Council boss said this in a statement made available to newsmen in Benin City, the Edo State capital to commemorate the celebration.

In the statement, she said children are a mirror that reflects how well a society takes care of her citizens, adding that keeping children safe from harm should remain the core duty of the society.

She added that children are the future leaders of tomorrow and a guarantee that our society will continue to grow. She however stressed that advocacy for compulsory education of children should continue to take center stage as the world marks the special day.

According to her, "The prosperity and continued progress of our society hinges firmly on the kind of nurturing we give to our children. An educated child of today makes for an educated leader of tomorrow. Hence, we must not downplay the importance of education of our children as we mark this special day."

Ogbemudia also called on parents and guardians to continue to provide children with a loving and supportive environment in order for them to grow and be the best they can be.
