BREAKING: Wike, Orbih On Warpath

Our sources reveal that due to his apparent inability to secure voting delegates from Edo State to shore up his chances of emerging the PDP presidential flagbearer at the forthcoming presidential primaries of the party; the Rivers state governor and presidential aspirant of the PDP, Gov. Nyesom Wike is on the warpath with the PDP National Zonal chairman (South South), Chief Dan Orbih and his cohorts.

The political romance between the two political actors allegedly hit the rocks on Tuesday, when Governor Wike learnt that his go to man in Edo PDP, Chief Dan Orbih who he had been using to checkmate the activities of Governor Godwin Obaseki, had failed to get the lion share of delegates from the ward and local government delegate elections held in the state even after getting reassurances from Chief Dan Orbih and the member representing Oredo Federal Constituency in the state, Rt. Hon. Ogbeide Ihama, two close loyalists of the Rivers state helmsman that they were firmly in charge of the Edo State Chapter of the party. A situation which turned out to be bogus as the Governor Godwin Obaseki led chapter of the state PDP succeeded in carting away majority of the adhoc delegates at both Ward and Local Government levels at the delegate elections held recently.

Gov. Wike was allegedly furious and left in awe when he further learnt that the results of the delegate elections had been submitted to the national secretariat of the PDP and that of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) which served as a coup de grace that put paid to any attempts by Chief Dan Orbih and his cohorts to hijack and manipulate the list. This development prompted the fiery Rivers governor to summon the duo of Chief Dan Orbih and Ogbeide Ihama to an emergency meeting in Port Harcourt on Tuesday to demand that they provide answers to the ominous political situation which has seriously dented his chances of currying bloc delegate votes from the South South Zone at the presidential primaries.

At the meeting, Gov. Nyesom Wike had given marching orders to both Dan Orbih and Ogbeide Ihama to find a way of remedying the ugly situation or risk being banned from the niceties of Port Harcourt reminding that he had invested financially in them and their activities in Edo PDP over the last few months and wont mind asking for a refund if they can't salvage the situation amidst other threats.

One would wonder what is left for Chief Dan Orbih and Rt. Hon. Ogbeide Ihama as it has become clear to their followers and loyalists that they have been outsmarted, outwitted and politically outgunned by Governor Godwin Obaseki and his loyalists who have remained coy about the crisis in the party but have been delivering stealthy deadly political blows to the Dan Orbih camp on all fronts. What is more worrisome for the Dan Orbih camp is the fact that all attempts to use the courts either in Rivers state or Abuja to checkmate the activities of Governor Godwin Obaseki and his loyalists by procuring injunctions as they had done in the past were futile; as they have been met with consistently consistent losses, something that spells doom for their long term political future in their battle of supremacy with Governor Godwin Obaseki and his followers. To avoid total humiliation and to save face, the duo of Orbih and Ogbeide Ihama have started running around making calls to leaders and chieftains of the party at the national level to appeal for soft landing and are mulling a truce with Governor Obaseki and his loyalists.

As it stands at the moment, it is safe to say that Governor Godwin Obaseki now fully calls the shots in the state chapter of the PDP and would eventually determine the position of the majority of delegates from the state at the national convention/primaries set to hold in Abuja later this month.
