Obaseki eulogises late Madam Awo-Osagie, hails role in his reelection

The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki has eulogized late Madam Ayo Edna Awo-Osagie, hailing her for the role she played in his reelection during the September 19, 2020 gubernatorial election.

Obaseki paid the tribute during a condolence visit to the Majority Leader of Edo State House of Assembly (EDHA), Henry Okhuarobo.

The governor was accompanied on the visit by his deputy, Rt. Hon. Comr. Philip Shaibu; Secretary to the State Government, Osarodion Ogie Esq.; Chief of Staff to the Governor, Hon. Osaigbovo Iyoha and other government officials.

According to Obaseki, "We are here to commiserate with our brother who is also the majority leader of EDHA over the passing and sad news of the death of his mother. Your mother was a mother to all of us; she carried our struggle as if it was her personal struggle.

"She was there for us in prayers; very supportive. Mama was my great supporter; we are here today in sympathy and solidarity with you.”

The governor added: “This is just a phase; mama has lived a fulfilled and accomplished life; there is nothing we can do. Rather than being sad, we should celebrate her life, looking at her influence on her children; the discipline and values she impacted are worth to be celebrated.

"We are all behind you because your mother is our mother; we will do all to give her a befitting burial.”

Speaking on behalf of the family, Okhuarobo appreciated the governor and his entourage for the visit, adding, “Mama died meeting all her heart desires.”
