The former Council boss of Egor Local Government Area, Hon. Eghe Ogbemudia, popularly called Madam Projects, has called on Nigerians to embrace peace and shun violence as the country celebrates 61 years of independence.

The former council Chairman made this known in a statement released to newsmen in Benin City, the Edo State Capital.

The statement reads: "As Nigeria marks 61 years of independence, I want to urge Nigerians to embrace peace because peace is the only means by which sustainable development can be anchored. Our coexistence must be one centered on brotherliness.

"I pray for peace, progress and prosperity of our dear country, Nigeria. Yes, we are not a country without challenges, however, I believe that we are greater that our challenges as a nation."

"Also, I implore everyone to take personal responsibility to protect themselves from the deadly corona virus. Covid-19 has threatened life as we used to know it. But only those who obey the Covid-19 prevention protocols can be safe from the pandemic. Your protection against the pandemic is your duty. Let's all be safety conscious. Your security begins with you," the statement added.
