Imo State Palace Of A Traditional Ruler Burnt Down By Hoodlums

The palace of the traditional ruler of the Etekwuru community in the Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area of Imo State, has been burnt down by unknown hoodlums. The development is coming few days after two traditional rulers were killed in Imo state.

We gathered that the hoodlums razed down houses at the traditional ruler’ s compound and proceeded to burnt down his Highlander Jeep. The incident happened on Thursday, 21 October, 2021.

Punch news reported that the youths of the community and Nigerian soldiers clashed in the community on Wednesday, 20 October, and that during the attack, a soldier was killed.

Following the attack, soldiers stormed the Etekwuru community and burnt down residence of some villagers in a reprisal attack.

Within 24 hours after a soldier was killed, unknown attackers stormed the King’ s residence with explosives and set the King’ s palace on fire. The King and his wife reportedly escaped during the attack.

Speaking about the recent development, the traditional ruler said that him and his wife was taking refuge at the Divisional Police Headquarters located at Mmahu, and that the duo escaped death by whiskers, that he managed to escape through the help of security operatives.

In a statement sent to Punch news, the traditional ruler claimed that the attack was carried out by those youths who killed a solider on Thursday.

” I left my house with only boxers as all properties in my house burnt. As the police arrived, I came out from my hidden point and discovered that the next building to my house is also on fire. ” The traditional ruler said.

While concluding his statement, he called on the government and good- spirited people to help him survive the shock caused by the recent ugly development.

In recent development is coming two days after two traditional rulers were killed during a meeting in Njaba area of IMO state.
