Angry youths stage protest over insecurity in President Buhari homestate Katsina

Following the incessant banditry attacks on Yantumaki and Danmusa LGAs of Katsina State, angry youths in the area took to the street to register their displeasure on Monday morning.

The angry youths barricaded Katsina-Funtua highway, burning tyres and threatening war with words.

The action of the youth was said to have been triggered by the continuous spate of attacks witnessed since Friday in Amarawa village as well as other communities within Danmusa and Matazu LGAs in the state.

The attacks on the affected communities it was reported resulted in the killings of over six persons, with scores of others injured and several houses amid other properties destroyed by the hoodlums.

DAILY POST gathered that the protest, which started in the morning, caused a heavy gridlock on the highway for several hours.

For fear of being attacked, some travellers enroute the troubled axis had to suspend their journey while others waited around Dutsima until they received clear signal from security operatives that the angry youths had been dispersed before continuing their journey.

Speaking on the incident, the spokesman of the Katsina State Police Command, Gambo Isah, said that security agencies are in control of the situation.

“The command in collaboration with military and other security agencies are on top of the situation as personnel and equipment are additionally deployed to deal with the recalcitrant bandits hibernating in the area.

“The command is calling for calm and urges members of the communities around the area to join hands with security agencies in the ongoing onslaught against the hoodlums,” SP Gambo said.
